Work on electrical equipment

Before connecting the system or any of its components to an electrical outlet, make sure that the following requirements are met:

  • Make sure the voltage most closely matches the AC power available in your location.

  • Make sure sufficient surge protection is provided.

  • Make sure your power outlet provides sufficient amperage.

To help avoid the potential hazard of electric shock, do not connect or disconnect any cables or perform maintenance or reconfiguration of this product during a storm.

Ensure that nothing rests on any of your system’s cables and that the cables are not located where they can be stepped on or tripped over.

Be careful when connecting any kind of cable. The plug can be connected in a wrong way which could cause irreparable damages in the system. Moreover, there is a danger of electric shocks or fire.

The delivered circuit diagram must be observed.

Before connecting the PC to an electrical outlet, ensure that the operating voltage of the power adapter matches the rated voltage and frequency of the available power source.

To avoid electrical shock, the power cord should always be connected to a properly grounded outlet. The cables may be equipped with protective contact plugs to ensure proper grounding. No type of adapter plug is allowed to be used. The ground contact of the power cord must not be removed. Only appropriate extension cords are allowed to be used, which are suitable for the power adapter cable.

Electrical equipment must be inspected regularly. Please refer to the user manuals of the particular components for more details.

Protection from electrical discharges

To prevent damage caused by electrostatic discharge, the person doing the work should discharge any static electricity in his/her body by touching a bare metal surface on the rear terminal block.

When unpacking an electronically delicate component out of the delivered carton, the anti-static packaging should be removed only when it should be installed. Before opening, the person installing the component should ensure that he/she discharges all static electricity from his/her body.

When transporting a delicate component, it is recommended to use an anti-static container or anti-static packaging.

When working with delicate components, they must be handled in a static-safe area. If possible, use anti-static floor pads and workbench pads.

Voltage

In order to avoid damage to the PC, please ensure that the appropriate voltage is set on the voltage selection switch on the PC, scanners, and monitors (230V/50 Hz in most European countries as well as Near, Middle, and Far East).

Ensure that the monitor and the attached devices can be run on the available voltage.

In order to avoid a short circuit when disconnecting a network cable, first disconnect the cable from the network adapter at the back of the PC and then from the network socket. If the network cable is reconnected, it must first be connected to the network wall jack and then connected to the network adapter of the computer.

In order to avoid damage to the system board, wait 5 seconds after the computer has been turned off before disconnecting or connecting a non-USB-compliant peripheral system.

The PC system must be protected against sudden voltage fluctuations by an overvoltage switch, power filter, or an uninterrupted power supply.
